thai yoga massage

A Thai massage is a type of massage that originated in India over 2,500 years ago. It was created by Buddha’s physician named Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha who is regarded as the “father of medicine.” Although it was created in India, it’s called Thai massage because the Thai Buddhist monks practiced the massage form and helped make the massage type popular.
Thai massage is a very therapeutic massage that is considered to be very rigorous, relaxing and energizing all at the same time. It is based on the theory that the body is controlled by life forces and that any imbalance between the forces could lead to disease. Therefore, Thai massage realigns the forces which heal a person spiritually, physically, and mentally.
The massage itself is also known as Thai yoga massage because many of the moves resemble yoga like postures. It is almost like having somebody else assisting you to do yoga postures and you do not have to do anything but relax and go with the flow.
The massage is performed is traditionally on a mat on the floor, however, a massage table could also be used. The client is fully clothed and unlike most traditional forms of therapy, no oils are used.
The client lies on their back while the therapist applies gentle strokes using their hands, knees, legs, and feet to channel the client’s energy and open up their body. The massage usually starts off at the legs and moves upward.
A session usually lasts between one and two hours and many people get the treatment once a month, depending on their health condition.
There are many benefits associated with Thai massage including improved blood circulation, increased flexibility, reduces stress, calms nervous system, relieves fatigue, and increases energy levels.
